low tide, Sydney

Star Limpet

Collection 01 began in a rock pool. Every piece is cast from a real shell, so what you wear is the shape the sea made.

Live limpets sitting in round hollows on wet, sunlit rock at low tide

It starts at low tide, when the water pulls back and the rock pools open up. Limpets sit tucked into the sandstone, each one worn into its own little hollow, ridged and cratered like tiny stars.

I collected the shells along the NSW coast and brought them back to my studio in Brookvale, where every ridge and worn edge became the starting point for this collection.

From shell to gold

  1. 01

    Found

A real shell, picked up on the coast. Nothing is drawn or carved to look like one.

  2. 02

    Moulded

Each shell is moulded, so the original is kept safe and every detail comes through in every piece.

  3. 03

    Cast

Cast in sterling silver or solid 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold, exactly as the shell was found.

  4. 04

    Finished by hand

I clean, size and finish every piece by hand in Brookvale, and set every stone myself. Each diamond I use is lab-grown: a real diamond, with the same sparkle and hardness, without the mining.
